The Watershed Watch of Calaveras is a new volunteer monitoring program developed by the Watershed Committee of the Calaveras County RCD. Developed in the Spring of 2026, this program is aimed at collecting water quality measurements at dedicated sites throughout Calaveras County over time.

The CCRCD is searching for community members to volunteer their time once every three months to take these measurements!

What will you do?

• Become a citizen scientist!
• Collect quarterly water quality data from key sites within the watersheds of  Calaveras County

Why is monitoring needed?

• There is a lack of long-term water resource data available in Calaveras County.
• Data collected will aid water resource managers in planning restoration projects to protect our water quality

What’s the time commitment?

• Training and orientation is needed prior to conducting monitoring on your own, this should take ~1.5 hours
• Once trained, you should expect to dedicate no more than 4 hours, once every three months to complete monitoring.
