Under a grant awarded to the CCRCD by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), our Forest Health Program staff are working towards planning and developing up to twelve fuel reduction projects within the Butte Fire scar. 

These projects will target BLM parcels within the Wildland Urban Interface that were burned in 2015 by the Butte Fire. These parcels have been left largely unmanaged and vegetation has regrown, resulting in a landscape at high risk of wildfire. Projects planned under this grant will target fuels posing the most risk to private landowners and connect treatments on neigboring properties to increase the wildfire resiliency of  these BLM parcels and the surrounding areas.

The CCRCD was awarded a Regional Forest and Fire Capacity Program Grant by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, allowing our staff to develop, plan and prioritize forest health projects within Calaveras County.

CCRCD prioritizes projects based on community need, input from regional and local partners, and funding available.
