There will be a short informational presentation regarding the planned and approved shaded fuel break. Funding for this project provided by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s (CAL FIRE) Wildfire Prevention Grants Program.
The fuel break covers major portions of 319 acres of public and private lands North of town, between Moke Hill and the Mokelumne River. It also includes a strip of East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) watershed lands northwest of Highway 49.
Project work is planned to begin as soon as soil conditions allow. Following the presentation representatives of CCRCD, EBMUD, CalFire, Moke Hill Fire, project managers and the contractor performing the work will be on hand to answer questions.
